In 1647 Barleu wrote an account of the Dutch colonial empire in Brazil inspired by the leadership of John Mauricio of Nassau, who was appointed governor of the Dutch West India Company in 1637 and continued as governor until 1644. Binding by A. V. Emmott & Sons, Houston.
