Norman Mailer's The Deer Park: A Play (Uncorrected proof)
The Dial Press, 1967. 152 pages. Unrevised proofs of the adaptation of Mailer's third novel. The play opened off-Broadway in January 1967. Mailer continued to revise the play for the rest of his life, sometimes recruiting others including Joan Didion and her husband John Gregory Dunne.
A near fine copy in salmon-colored wrappers (paperback) with white plastic comb binding. White printed sticker seal on bottom edge of both covers broken. Inscribed to noted book collector Don Kaufmann: "I wish you could have seen it. Norman Mailer." Kaufmann published one of the first critical studies of Mailer, Norman Mailer: The Countdown (The First Twenty Years). A very scarce Mailer item.

Scott Fitzgerald. The play opened at the Coronet Theater on Broadway in December 1958 and closed in May 1959 after 189 performances.
