First Edition
(San Francisco): (n.p.), 1896. 29 pages. The City of San Francisco appointed a committee to fight the Central Pacific Railroad's proposal to refinance its debt to the US government. Doyle, which had appeared in The Nation. Many similar pamphlets were issued in the mid-1890s. Cowan and Cowan, Bibliography of the History of California, p. 509. ISBN: 281AIB0030549.

The American Mother Goose
First Edition
(Beaumont, TX): (Greystone Press), (1938). [32] pages. 5 by 7 inches. A collection of folk nonsense rhymes, which Wood called "Peckerwood" verse. Each rhyme is illustrated by two drawings. Unexpectedly--based on the subject matter and the sources--only a couple of the rhymes are racist. To his discredit Dobie, in his short introduction, manages to make reference to "darkies" and he quotes only one rhyme, which also happened to be the only one that uses the N-word.
An expanded edition of this book was published in hardcover by Lippincott in 1940. This first edition is uncommon, with just two holdings in OCLC. ISBN: 281AIB1041587.
First edition (first printing). Wire staples rusted and the covers are grubby. However, the book is inscribed by Wood.
