The second installment in Pelot's five-volume saga Wind of the World saga, a fantasy retelling of human hitory (a French take on the themes explored in Jean Auel's Earth's Children series). This novel is set a million years ago in what is now Burma. Pelot received scientific guidance from Yves Coppens, the anthropologist who headed the expedition that found the famous Lucy Australopithecus skeleton. Pelot (the pseudonym of Pierre Grosdemange) is one of the leading French science fiction writers. ISBN: 9782207245002.
First edition (first printing). A fine copy in wrappers (paperback). Inscribed by Pelot to the paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould. Books inscribed by Pelot are uncommon in North America. While Gould's specialty was land snail fossils, he often wrote about developments in the search for early humanoid fossils, though what he thought of this sort of science-fiction is hard to say.
