Scott Fitzgerald. The play opened at the Coronet Theater on Broadway in December 1958 and closed in May 1959 after 189 performances. Jason Robards, Jr. played the Fitzgerald-like down-and-out writer, and the English actor Rosemary Harris played his wife. Robards won the Tony for his performance. ISBN: 281AIB1041667.

The pamphlet recounts the author's visit to several Episcopal missions and schools operating on Sioux reservation lands in South Dakota and Nebraska. Welsh was an earnest advocate for the rights of the American Indian. He founded the Indian Rights Association in Philadelphia in 1883 and served as its corresponding secretary for 34 years and president for 11 years. This is his earliest publication. According to the New York Times review, the play opened on Nov. 17; this script is dated 2 November 1972. The play opened at the American Place Theater in New York and, according to Coover's CV on the Brown University website, it has been performed many times all over the world. It won three Obie awards for its initial run. A very uncommon original playscript, with only one copy in OCLC (University of South Carolina). The play was included in Coover's book A Theological Position (May 1972). ISBN: 281AIB1038189.

    This version of the play likely dates from the beginning of previews. A comparison of this script with the one published in A Theological Position would show whether the text was revised during rehearsals. Rear cover faded at the edges, else fine in brad-bound wrappers, as issued.

Labeled the "first draft" of Sheldon's Acadamy Award-winning screenplay, here titled "Suddenly It's Spring" and released as "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer" in 1947. The film starred Shirley Temple as a teen-ager attracted to an older man, played by Cary Grant. Myrna Loy plays Temple's older sister, a judge; Rudy Vallee plays a district attorney. The movie was part courtroom drama, part romantic comedy (albeit about a 17-year-old who falls for a man more than twice her age.

    Sheldon had a long and productive career as a writer for TV and film, before branching out in the 1970s with a run of steamy romances that sold millions of copies. ISBN: 281AIB1041665.

    [n.d. but 1977?]. Hallmark photo album, 9-3/4 by 5 inches, containing about 120 original color photographs, each 3-1/2 by 3-1/2 inches. Images depict Rod McKuen and others in Africa, possibly during a 1977 tour, during which "he was reportedly the first entertainer to demand that the audience be integrated" according to his obituary in the New York Times. Pictures include landscapes, sunsets, elephants, ocean waves, a rural village, and aerial views from a hot air balloon trip, along with portraits of McKuen and others. ISBN: 281AIB1032669.

    Hinges cracked from bulk of photos, else very good in yellow boards with pictorial paper label. Inscribed: "To Rod with love and Africa. Ray." McKuen later wrote about this trip on his website: "Ray taught me ballooning. I even agreed to do an extra concert in South Africa and got the promoters to pay for Ray and his balloon to come to Africa, so that we could sail through the countryside." Provenance: Acquired from the estate of the singer, songwriter, and poet Rod McKuen, who sold millions of books and albums in the 1960s and 1970s.
